I'm not really a fan of the new engine/speed icons' current graphic: the ship does not look enough like a spaceship and the diamond-shaped engine section looks odd. EDIT: The ore graphic also looks strange compared to the other ones. This is likely a result of the other graphics being very simple geometric shapes. |

Jeff, why did you add a glow to the 64x64 icons? It really detracts from the quality. Adjusting the the size and edge of the vector line would have reduced jagged lines yet kept the images fairly sharp. At the moment it just looks like you tried to upscale a raster image... |

the bullet bill graphic doesnt look like a bullet at all at small size, it looks much more like a medicine bottle. |

Some of the large icons in C1 have that glow to them and I thought it looked good. Also, I just realized we have no medium/large icon for parasites. |

Updated http://www.starsonata.com/icon_test/icon_preview.html with some reductions from the very large icons in C1. |

The large icons in C1 look like they have a light glow around them with a somewhat sharp silhouette. Compare this to the large C2 icons which look more like the edges were blurred. |

DarthFirebert wrote: That's because that's the exaust, not the engine. I realize it's the exhaust, but I'm using "engine" in the same way that one might say "weapon" when referring to the projectile. Either way, it seems odd having it come out of a triangle cut-out into the ship. I would also generally expect the exhaust to appear as an extended circle that tapers off toward the end: kind of how it looks in-game currently or how it's usually depicted in minimalistic graphics. |

I agree with Takuhi, the blurring effect on the 64x64 makes them look worse, not better. |

Denux has it right. What you want to do is layer it. The bottom layer should be the icon with a glow. Reduce the opacity to between 50% and 70%. And then do a full opacity layer of the icon without glow on the top. |

A already spent 2 days on this. I'm not an artist, so if someone else would like to try to make the large versions look better, I'll email you the raw images and you can have at it. Just let me know. |

I think we still need some more icons for commodities. Need: 1. signets/diploma/emblem/badge/insignia/token/key 2. agriculture (e.g. space oats, baobabs, rations) 3. technology (e.g. Microchips, Personal Computers) 4. industry (e.g. Workers, Factory Parts) 1. could be just some kind of circle or polygon with a border around it probably 2. could be maybe a bushel of something or a few stalks together 3. could be a single microchip 4. could be a single gear Anyone? =) |
