I do good with C1. I guess i'll ask for some money this christmas and save up for a better computer. C2 wont be out of a few years anyway.

Any suggestions? I don't have a job though so keep it cheap.

Jeff said a long time ago that C2 should actually be easier to run than C1 somehow. That sounds far fetched to me, but I'll admit that he may know a bit more about computers than I do, what with his degree from MIT and all.

I'd be interested in first-hand reports from people who are C2 testers and have tried to run it on an old laptop or something though.

Better coding will do WONDERS for what a game can run on. If C1 has bulky and/or sloppy coding and C2 is much better, even in 3D it will run a whole lot smother.

C1 integrated DirectX with Microsoft Foundation Class GUI, which ends up crazy-slow. Plus C1 uses lots and lots of big transparencies which aren't particularly fast, either. C2 uses plenty of transparencies, too, but all the GUI is drawn natively, so the UI part of it is way, way faster. We have 4 levels of graphic detail plus other graphics options. I'm pretty sure that C2 will run on anything that will run C1, as long as you set it to lowest, but we honestly haven't experimented too much with it yet. I tried on my laptop and it runs 60 fps on highest setting, so my laptop is too new to be of any use.

Yeah - looks nice. Ward is too flat, Pax needs to be thicker at the front, Wing is fine.

The only problem I have is that Capital Ships are too underpowered for their size. I mean - you'd expect something of THAT size to be a lot more powerful than what it is.

The music... is awesome...

the only ship i didn't think looked right was the MMS/App ward.
i had always imagined that it was relatively bulky, being a freighter, but when i saw it, it was so flat...

pax was perfect! (sans the glow, it looked like a different ship)
zebra looked pretty awesome, with the downward wings and stuff.

overall, great. DO WANT

I think you may be wrong on that one, HAL. I remember reading somewhere on the forum that c2 will be here SOON.
