Ah, so battler is actually disagreeing with the entire premise of the thread, not just my suggestion.

I thought the premise of the thread was to find out what people would pay massive amounts of credits for. Perhaps I'm reading the title wrong though.

Manyway, I'm against a korean style random chance of getting something useful style system, which is exactly what buying mods would be. You repeatedly try to compare it with bar and imp skills when they are dissimilar in the extreme. When you buy a bar skill you get a definite % bonus which is limited. Buying a random mod is nothing like this.

So you wouldn't mind if it cost 20x as much but you could always get the mod you wanted? I don't see why the random aspect turns you off.

Oh, also! There should be a way to clear all mods from neurobound gear in case you get something you don't want and would prefer to start from scratch.

Just an idea. Put an ingame lottery.

Money sink, and fun.

Say 100m to buy a number, game tracks how many are sold total and at the end of the week a RnG picks one, that player get's 50% of the total credits in the lotto and the other 50% dissapears.

Not 100m, just have the basic unit be one credit, but with no maximum. After that each additional credit increases your chance of winning by one unit.

Also, not 50%, because that makes it useless if there is only two people playing for some reason. Have the number scale based on the amount of credits involved, increasing up to maybe 34% taken after a few hundred billion.

That way ANYONE could play; It would be super funny, actually, if some noob bet their whole life savings and ended up winning like 50b :P

Why would it be a problem if only two people played? Even if both put in exactly half, one person would lose it all and the other would come out with zero net winnings.

Anyway, this silliness is averted if you just make it wait until a set amount is reached before dispensing the winnings. It would probably also be more fun if there were a small group of winners chosen instead of a single jackpot winner.

Super risky as we might end up with nubs dumping all they have into it, losing and then having nothing. I know, it is their own fault but still, could be an issue.

Just have this so there is 0% fail chance. Have missions set so there are specific prizes for each tier of money you put in.

So there are set tier prizes for set tier credits.

Simple and and rewarding enough to where its not devastating if you put all you money in and don't get anything out of it.

Why was my same suggestion 3 pages before overlooked -.-

I've suggested it in other places, but what about a daily or weekly lottery. Everyone puts in money to buy tickets and the winner gets creds but only a small portion of what the total payment for everyones tickets was. That's a nice pure credit sink. :P

Now back to the dissuion. Have it so that you have to be over a certain level to start entry into the lottery? Perhaps even a gambling skill bought from some gal :P Also have it like RL lottos where if lots and lots of people put money into it goes into jackpot and has a push for more people to buy more tickets. (But it'd be kept in a specific, optional, chat tab (or station tab) so that people who only occasionally enter don't get spammed by it.

Lottery would be too difficult to implement to make it be worth it.

Then just make it a black hole that never pays and everyone will think that the winner always stays quiet :P

Would it be possible to have the lottery attached to forums and peoples accounts from there?

Bah, lotteries are pretty boring anyway. Let's concentrate on more interesting money sinks.

To be honest though the idea of steering so many BPs to pure massive cred cost is a very bad idea. There is no real rule saying things need to get more and more expensive to build, there will come a time when aspects of the game a simply inaccessible to all but the super rich.

Earning t21 skills is already a long time consuming process, obtain the proper BPs is also rare and time consuming. That is how it should be, make the BPs difficult to obtain but don't make the build bankrupt any but a few.

When you said that, I thought of one of these...

Why not just have credits turn into some fun and exciting graphic in sol or something when purchased, I know plenty of people who would spin their credits down that vortex of fun.
