Ok, now tell me when something really exciting happens.

the third paragraph in that article is a very poor explaination of the concept... alice mails bob a letter detailing what she did, so bob can do the same things and therefore the information was teleported?

not to mention that teleportation generally gives one the impression of movement of matter... I'd pick a different word.

I rather prefer how Orson Scott Card explains ansibles

It's because quantum physicists these days think that information and particles are the same thing. If anything goes over a long distance without moving through that distance they go "I know! Teleportation!" followed by applause after they state that it's not possible for particles to go faster than the speed of light. TL;DR: Physicist applauded for pointing out the irrelevant to the confusion of everyone who isn't a physicist.

You could probably just have it so that if the particle is disturbed you would count that as information being sent. But landswimmer, see article explicitly states that this is not FTL communication. (it totally is though)

This would only be useful if we could send packets of photons, not just single ones. But perhaps it will be possible in the future, and that's why this is an important discovery.

No one thought at first that the discovery and understanding of electricity was anything more then a hobby or a sin against god. Give this technology 50 years and you'll be teleporting in that new car you just bought, grocery into your fridge and a carbon copy of that hot chick on the Victoria's secret commercial.

the lack of recognition for nikola tesla (and people like him) is the number one reason why the world sucks.

electricity was the appetiser, and because noone recognised what tesla had done, he didnt reach his potential, and whatever he had that allowed him to have those profound insights which allowed almost all "modern" technology, he took to the grave with him,

and thats why the world is ruled by greedy corporate assholes, like thomas edison, rather than people who actually understand shit, like tesla. because people like tesla get no recognition, and no money.

nikola tesla would be bending global warming over and fucking it in the ass. there would be no energy crisis. we wouldve had wifi in the 1950's.

1% inspiration and 99% perspiration is utter bullshit. its 1% inspiration and 99% being recognised for that 1%. edison was just really good at faking inspiration, stealing other people's ideas and pure "trial and error", most of which he paid other people to do for him.

and thats probably the strongest argument i know for "global karma", the fact that the world isnt inextricably doomed from the outset, its just screwed because of the assholes who fuck over other people for their own gain. like a company dieing because its employees and bosses are parasites with no ambition or inspiration.

or like a parasite infested animal dieing, and the ensuing chaos as the parasites begin to realise they've gone too far, and must find a new host, or die. mankind doesnt go to space anymore because the parasites kill the things they rely on to survive.
