It has to have something that makes it turn for non-full tracking beam weapons and "projectile" weapons.

then the engine should have a modifier on it that gives -100% thrust.

As things stand now a BS has the same negative mining resists as a t 20 BASE. This is intolerable. Also the engine is shit. Either make the Engine worth a damn and give it more speed and leave the resists alone OR leave the engine as is and beef the resists by a significant amount. (To mining only). The ship is slow so it takes every hit that comes it's way. I am not asking or suggesting that it should be able to tank an Ada kit but that it can't be one or two shot by a seer. It was built for battle but is totally useless against anything with mining weapons. Leo

The 5 Aug slots more than compensate for the ship's mining weaknesses and the crapy engine.
EDIT: it is a cheap version of the Hm.

any idea of aug stacking ? 5th aug slot does not compensate for anyhting, yes having 2 more aug slots more then all other t20 uz ships (excpet pantha) + the hull boost makes up for their crappy movement and weekness, but even back then barely anone used it but for PvAI, cause there you can avoid mining damage. changing the mining weekness from -150% to 40% along the line would not even change there anything, but compared with a t21 ship, with even better resi, and 4 aug slots, a BS is a joke .

anyways, it owns as a travelship! ;D

As i said it is a cheap version of a Hm. It is still a really great ship, and it does great in anything but pvp.. and RP. It is more of a support ship as any class but sniper or zerk. This ship ought to be for the combat classes actually, as its name features Battle =p

Glass Cannon is the word when you put a sniper in a BS.

Or... just give it literally zero thrust. But that would make it even worse in PvP as you saw last night.

By the way, -100% to any stat has a tendency to break things since it calls for division by zero.

Bs gets rocked by tsunamis. Oly it's alright but need good squad to survive pos. Easier taking a dread or pbf monk for aura currently.

Bs is awesome. Needs no changes.

mmm... I disagree. There is a way to calculate all of those aug effects with fewer steps and no need for division. Not that difficult for Jeff to go in and swap the formula out, as was demonstrated by the aug nerf.

Anyways, leave the battlesphere as is. The existance of battle [ship without an engine] anything started with Atlum. Basicly, the story is that thatchs at one time could recieve 100% resists with stacking diffusers. One glance from Atlum, and poof! no more.

Not sure on details with weapon slots but, basicly, the existance of battle spheres and battle thatches is a work around for (one of) the most broken thing(s) in game.

Long story short:
anilv posting about zero reminded me of Calypso and I felt compelled to share some SS history.

Although I'm not familiar with C++ at all, wouldn't it be easy to make a fix to the code? Such as:

If stat <= -100
{
stat = -99;
}

How I wish I knew how the coding worked. :/

The problem is that -X% is treated as -X/(1-X)% when compared with other bonuses. For example, -20% is cancelled by +25%. In particular, -100% would only be cancelled by +infinity%. You could always code in something to catch -100% modifiers and set stuff to zero manually, but why would you bother?

And KC does Olympus runs on a daily base.

ummm, ... no wait I just remembered, not daily, weekly!
ummm, ... no wait wrong again it wasn't weekly but ... meh nvm you already get my point.

The BS is not a cheap HM - why on earth would you get such an idea???
They are different concepts of gameplay for a (healing) shm.

Well the BS can't move. The Hm can. a plus for the Hm.
BS has 5 Aug slots. But isn't a freighter. Even so the 5th Aug slot can compensate a bit for not being able to use a RR. a plus for the Hm still.
The Hm can use t21 augs. That's the deccisive advantage.
BS is close in strenght with the Hm. It also has a nice 100% shield bonus.

Battle Sphere in no way can be compared to the HM in a "This or that" comparision. The BS is a support-oriented Capital Ship. The HM is a full on combat freighter.
