The title says it all. Lots of folk invested skill points, creds, and commods into getting crazy glue. Please make it do something - pretty much anything is okay that isn't somehow harmful to the players who have it.

Personally, I think it should give us a tractor boost, but that might be because I'm an engineer. It sounds kind of tractor-ish.

I am almost certain that the idea was that it should reduce the amount of damage that your gear would take from a death, or something similar to that. But you know... backburner(tm).

Skills have ID's, so we can rename the skill to something else easily.

What we want it to do though is a different matter, although it'll probably reduce the cost in repairing, although other options could be how much durability is removed or chance of an item not loosing any.

We could also make some form of repair bot (requiring levels, just like Drone Controllers & AI), which automatically repair X% per Ys, costing Z credits per Ys.

Anything that makes ships go past 10 deaths would be amazing. The current 10 death limit on any sort of uber run is incredibly lame and please do not even mention spare parts, they are worthless.

Could also increase the cost of repair by, say, 1000% to many durability something that actually affects us economically as well. And it could also make scrap parts useful.

Not all at once. But maybe increase the cost 100% every few weeks. For the newbs that have joined since the change and know nothing else.

the whole "im rich so im better" idea is behind many of the problems in SS. increasing the cost would do nothing to provide a cash sink, while screwing over newer players.

maybe instead, change the stasis system to allow players to get back into their ships whenever they want, but with the condition that until the stasis timer runs out, their gear is "unstable" and they are at risk of damaging their gear much more than they normally would if they die a second time (25% if they get back in instantly, 20% after 1 minute, 15% after 2, etc) it would also be compounded by the fact that the sooner you get back in, the lower your shields are and the more likely you are to die.

so rather than it being a "im rich so i win" situation, each player has to make a choice independent of what they have, it gives them the option to wait, and avoid losing any credits or damaging their gear, or not wait, and risk doing far more damage

it would eliminate the "10 death limit" in oly, while making PvP more interesting, as players would have to weigh their own interests against the interests of the team

it gives a punishing "death" mechanism for uber players, while sparing the noobs the frustration of unavoidable losses

crazy glue could simply reduce the amount of time you have to wait before your gear "restabilises"

with that, increasing the cost of repair wont hurt new players as much, while serving its intended purpose for higher level players

That's actually a really interesting idea. However, I think it would be a little overpowered in its current form. On most Traders Olympus runs dying is a rarity, and dying twice in extremely uncommon.

I do think landswimmer's idea does have some merit. I will say though, combined with the invincibility aura it may have some abusability.

I agree with landswimmer(and just remove the invincibility if this would go in?)

maybe have it that you only get the invincibility aura if you wait the full 5 minutes?

There has to be some minimum time until you can re-enter your ship, which is as it is now. Otherwise it can (will) be very easily abused, even without invincibility aura.
