Again, can someone post the blank background, so we can make our own? |

I attached an archive containing GIMP layers several posts ago. If you are unable to extract the background layer from it, Imma be having more GIMP fun this evening (in 7 hours) so I will post those layers as separate .png pictures directly. Oh, btw, anyone knows how to make a layer glow in GIMP, and by "glow" I mean "produce a subtle outward luminescence" (Im sure now it's perfectly clear ) I tried radial motion blur with oversaturation and transparency, but I need a more kinky effect. |

In photoshop cs3 and up (may be an older feature as well, not sure), its a standard feature called "outer glow". Other than that, you can try a solid->noalpha gradient, radiating from the center, masked by the button layer. Been a while since i've used gimp, but i believe you can do custom gradients. |

yeah that's exactly what I did to my heart avvy in the first place, but gradients are a pain to control on a pixel level... Maybe it's time to ask my IT guys to come and install this CS3 for me.... *looks at the unpacked CS3 professional suite box in his desk drawer* |

Don't get bitter only because you are too proud to ask for a C2 avatar I'll make you one anyway. I'll use that picture: |

Meh, if you gonna rip off the style why don't you at least use good quality source image and maybe put a little effort into it. |

afaik there are no good quality source pictures available to the community? Im sure noone here is trying to ruin your beautiful artwork Q4, I guess we are simply inspired and motivated by your creation to expand it using whatever means are available, so yeah the results are outmatched by your skill and craft, but that's a good thing, nothing to be unhappy about? |

What I mean is use like 500x500 images, isolate properly, and then scale down. Adjust and sharpen appropriately and voila! If your source image is a bad quality jpg full of artifacts, or even worse a gif, there can be no good result. You can polish a turd but it's still a turd. And all you guys requesting stuff, put a little effort into it and find them a good source image/artwork... seriously... Google provides all the tools you need too, large and medium images work good, small do not. Simple as that. |

kilua wrote: Q4 would you say who is the best C2ish avvys maker ?? "not including you cause you're the best already" Don't know, and it's not a competition to begin with. As for the style, yes that's my work. It's actually flattering that people are trying to use it as we have spent months working on it and this only goes to show we did a pretty good job. I mean if it looked bad people wouldn't wanna use it. As for the avatars themselves. Ideally an avatar is the representation of the person using it. Subject matter used in them cannot be rated as it's a matter of taste. And the only taste that matters is the owners. As long as the user is happy the job is well done. Only way to really rate one would the the technical execution. I myself have worked with photoshop on a professional level (ie getting payed for this shit...) for a number of years and as I have gone though all the steps I can say that there is no way for a novice to know certain things. It's also a sign of an insecure asshole if you wanna keep knowledge to yourself in fear of being bested or whatever. So until someone makes this remark about me: Clean box for you all to use And a small tutorial Jira sent me this (original): I then isolated, scaled down, adjusted to this: Then I colored it and adjusted: Placed it as a re-scalable smart object: And the final adjustments and sharpening: |
