As some of you know, i recently obtained a very crappy intel based laptop (including intel gpu), as to have something to optimise the client on.

Here's the result after 2 days of intensive optimisations/bug fixing (lot of stuff was broken on intel gpu, had to disable a few things that you probably wont notice anyway XD).

* Some major performance improvement should be noticeable in this patch. Mostly aimed at low end gpu, but will affect everyone (higher end gpu might not see much of a difference).
* Lag killer received a rework in the algorithm that determine when to increase/decrease the laglevel, it should now have a little less tendency to go in the critical zone (unless it think you really needs it, it may happen especially in crowded gals like free market)
* Lag killer now include a new feature to fight the evil client lag. When it goes in the removal zone (red background no flashing), it will start slowing down every other ship/objects animation/idles except your target and yourself. Basicly, the "important" stuff are given priority in the rendering.
* some projectiles particles received some more love (ion peashooter actually look like c1 now (not exactly yet but soon !).
* most likely a ton of other little things i forgot about but will be in the logs once it become a real patch.


- new in version .342
* Fixed (at least im pretty sure i did), the fast spinning/orbiting planets
* fixed a bunch of effects that were in slow motion on some systems (warp refraction and explosions to only name 2).

-new in version .402
* made it so the ambient light doesnt inherit the starcolor anymore. should make things a bit clearer and more constant between gals.
* reduced the impact of ambient on planets
* radar now scale the blips with their object size
* like command is working again
* fixed a bug that caused selection highlight to not always be the full width.
* fixed the bug introduced in .342 causing a second ss2 window to be created.



(you must be logged on forum to download).
Just like the other beta clients. to install just extract in your ss2 folder and run.

planet move a light speed and they are slow planets

mmm, i noticed a similar issue with some planets rotating extremely fast. Ill have to track down what change could had caused it before taking that patch out of beta ><

On low settings, the jerkiness in Zebra level was markedly reduced. I still get a regular jerk every 1 second or so, but that's definitely an improvement.

I'll try but you already told me that it wouldn't help for Low/Medium settings.

we noticed the double window bug, will be fixed in the next beta (or live, whichever come first).

3 more reasons Jey is win. I can use radar again!! Though lets be honest, the scaling could still use some work... a termite larva was as big as my reaver and an attached magic drone is as big as a t12 base. Also, the radar goes off center if you dock while moving, and then recenters when you undock. not a huge deal just a bit wierd :-P

im not the one who did the radar stuff, that was another dev :P. not because i posted it in the beta client that i did everything in there.

well the effects was me, but the like and radar werent.
